Minor in Information Technology

For students majoring in other academic disciplines, the flexible design of the information technology (IT) minor can complement any student’s major field of study. The array of courses in specialized IT knowledge areas help students develop and expand their IT concepts, gain a broader perspective on the impact of IT on society, and increase or enhance IT proficiency skills. Students with an IT minor are often the technical “go-to person” in their respective careers.

Purpose of the IT Minor

=> attract students majoring in all academic disciplines who would like to become more knowledgeable in information technology;

=> provide a strong foundation in computing and information technology fundamentals, programming logic, computer networking, information security, and web development;

=> serve the market demand for entry level IT professionals as well as serve the need of specified knowledge in IT in various sectors; and

=> attract students interested in furthering their study of information technology by majoring in a bachelor of science degree in the information technology program of study, which is currently in development. All the courses in the IT minor/IT program of study are mapped according to the IT Body of Knowledge (IT BoK) as proposed by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
